There is no single best junior college, only the best fit for your grades, your subjects and how you work. This guide shows the most competitive colleges, what actually matters in the choice, and how to decide with confidence.
| Raffles, Hwa Chong | 3 to 5 |
| Eunoia, Nanyang | 5 to 7 |
| National, Victoria | 6 to 8 |
Indicative L1R5. Lower is more competitive.
The most academically competitive junior colleges in Singapore, by 2026 cut-off, are Raffles Institution and Hwa Chong Institution, followed by Eunoia, Nanyang, National, Victoria and the other established colleges. But the best JC for you depends on more than the cut-off: your subjects, the special programmes a college offers, distance from home, and the culture all matter. Choose for fit, not just for prestige.

Use the cut-off points as a guide to where you are competitive, and our eligibility calculator to see your realistic options. Ranking a mix of reach, match and safe choices is wiser than chasing only the most competitive name.
Colleges differ in what they offer: some have H2 Computing, Theatre Studies, Music or Art electives, or language and humanities programmes. If you have a clear interest, a college that supports it can matter more than a slightly lower cut-off. See what each offers in the subject combinations pages.
Two years is a long time to travel far each day. A college closer to home, or one whose culture and CCAs suit you, can make a real difference to how you cope. Open houses are the best way to get a feel for this.
The college you enter shapes your A Levels far less than the habits you build once you are there. Strong students do well across many colleges. Choose well, then start strong.

Match your grades to the cut-off points to see where you are competitive, check which colleges offer the subjects and programmes you want, weigh distance and culture, and visit open houses. Rank a mix of reach, match and safe choices on your application.
It helps, but far less than students expect. The habits you build in the first months, especially answering technique and consistent practice, matter more than the college name. Many students do very well regardless of which JC they attend.
