JC Economics tuition · H1 and H2

JC Economics tuition, taught from the answer key outward.

Economics is the subject most JC students underestimate. They learn the content, then lose the marks in how they argue it under exam pressure. Since 2007, ETG has taught one subject only, A Level Economics, around a single idea: learn it from the person who wrote the H1 and H2 TYS answer keys, then write an essay or case study every week and have it personally marked, until the A grade version becomes your own.

How the grade is built

One lesson in. Two lessons back.

A Level Economics is a writing under pressure exam, not a content test. Content gets you to a C. The weekly marked loop is what moves precision and evaluation to an A. It is the part no other centre actually runs.

01
You write
One essay or case study every week, from around June or July onwards, in the same format the paper uses.
02
We mark
Personally marked with written comments that say, at the level of each sentence, what an examiner would credit.
03
You study the model
A full worked solution and a video walkthrough, so you see the A grade version of your own question.
04
It feeds back
Aggregated cohort gaps are written back into the textbooks and lesson plans each term.

Here is what makes that loop rare. At most centres, having your essays marked or your model answers explained is a separate paid lesson, if it is offered at all. At ETG the weekly graded homework programme is included for every student, free of charge. We can run it as a standard feature rather than a premium upsell because we are an Economics specialist: teaching one subject at scale gives us the economies to mark every student's work, every week.

A consistent E to my first A

"As long as you are willing to put in the effort, you will improve tremendously with his guidance, as I did from a consistent E to my first A for my entire JC econs journey, for the A Levels."
Glynis Lim
Mr Eugene Toh, founder of ETG Economics
Author of the H1 & H2 TYS answer keys
Why the materials are different

The person who wrote the answer key writes your materials.

The H1 and H2 TYS answer keys published by SAP and sold at Popular, the 50 Model Essays books published by Shing Lee, and every ETG textbook, rubric and worked solution come from the same hand. When you study a model answer here, you are reading from the same mind that will mark your essay on Thursday.

The books are rewritten every term against the current syllabus and the latest prelim trends, so the practice you do matches the paper you will sit, not the one from three years ago. Anyone can call themselves the best JC economics tutor in Singapore. This credential is on a shelf at Popular, where you can check it.

H2 or H1

Should you take H2 or H1 Economics?

Our honest advice: if your subject combination allows it, take H2. It opens the most university courses, and our system is built to take you to an A even if you are starting from a low base, so do not pick H1 out of fear of the subject. We have an established, rigorous system to get you there if you work with us. And if your combination places Economics as your contrasting subject, you are not an afterthought here, you get a dedicated H1 programme with its own exclusive H1 workbook.

H2 Economics

The one we recommend

Most JC students, and the widest university options.

Papers: two essay papers and a case study paper.
The loop matters most: a marked essay or case study every week.
Our promise: a rigorous, established system that takes you to an A from wherever you start, if you put in the work.
H1 Economics

A dedicated programme, not an afterthought

For students taking Economics as a contrasting subject.

Paper: the case study paper only.
Exclusive materials: a dedicated H1 programme and an H1 only workbook, built around the case study.
Benchmark: around 50 worked case studies by the A Levels.
Fees

Shown, not hidden.

JC economics, answered

The questions parents and students ask.

JC economics tuition is structured support for H1 and H2 A Level Economics, the subject most JC students find hardest to write for marks. At ETG it means weekly lessons from the author of the H1 and H2 TYS answer keys, a personally marked essay or case study every week, in-house textbooks, and unlimited consults, attended onsite, live on Zoom, or by recording.

Regular weekly lessons are about 115 dollars per lesson for JC2 and about 105 for JC1, each a two hour lesson with all materials and weekly marking included. Live Zoom is about 5 dollars less. Group and multi subject discounts apply, and confidential financial assistance of 25 to 100 percent is available for regular programmes. The schedule and fees page has the live numbers.

Yes, ETG teaches both, and our honest advice is to take H2 if your subject combination allows it. It opens the most university courses, and our established system is built to take you to an A even from a low base, so do not pick H1 out of fear of the subject. If you are taking H1 as a contrasting subject, you get a dedicated H1 programme with its own exclusive H1 workbook, focused on the case study paper. Bring your subject combination to a trial and we will map the right path.

Ideally in JC1, so the weekly writing loop has time to compound before promos and the A Levels. That said, students join as late as the middle of JC2 and still move several grades, and several of our strongest stories started at U or D. Joining late is not the problem, joining without a structure is.

Most students do best in the group programme, because the marked weekly homework, the worked solutions and the cohort wide pattern analysis are only possible at the depth a specialist group allows. One to one is available where a student needs it, taught by a senior tutor through ETG Premier. We will tell you honestly which fits your situation.

For most JC students the bottleneck is not knowing the content, it is writing it for marks under time pressure. Tuition is worth it when it fixes that with marked practice and feedback, which is exactly what the weekly ETG loop does. Sit a free trial lesson and judge it on the work before you decide.

ETG teaches onsite at five centres, Bukit Timah, Kovan, Pasir Ris, Upper Thomson and Jurong East, and live on Zoom, with every lesson recorded for on demand replay. You can switch between onsite, Zoom and recordings from week to week at no extra cost.

We publish whole cohort figures rather than cherry picked top scorers. The 2025 A-rate was 74 percent, self reported by students as of 28 February 2026, and it carries the usual response and selection bias caveats. We treat the student videos and their own messages as the stronger proof, which is why they lead this page.

Sit a real lesson first.

The trial is a full two hour lesson, same room, same material, same standard. Not a demo, not a sales pitch. Come and judge the programme on the work.
