Sustainable growth
Definition. Sustainable growth is economic growth that can be maintained over the long term without depleting natural resources or degrading the environment to the point that the wellbeing of future generations is compromised. It balances rising output today against the needs of those to come.
In Singapore policy, sustainable growth pairs raising the productive capacity of the economy with care for the environment and prudent use of resources, so that growth does not impose unacceptable costs on future generations.
