We understand

Looking for the right economics tuition centre? Here is what actually matters.

You have read the websites and asked around. Every economics tuition centre in Singapore claims great results, experienced tutors and comprehensive materials. They all sound the same.

But you are not looking for a centre that sounds good. You are looking for one that can actually prove it, with real data, real credentials, and a track record you can verify.

That is exactly why this page exists. Not to tell you we are the best econs tuition, but to show you what makes ETG different, and let you decide for yourself. What follows is the honest case: our credentials, our system, our results, and the caveats we think you should know about.

The ETG difference

What makes ETG different from other economics tuition centres in Singapore.

These are not marketing claims. They are verifiable facts: check the books at Popular, or sit in on a lesson.

01

The TYS author teaches here

Mr Eugene Toh authored the H1 and H2 Economics Ten Year Series answer keys, published by SAP and sold at Popular bookstores islandwide. He also wrote 50 Model Microeconomics Essays and 50 Model Macroeconomics Essays, published with SAP. Every lesson, textbook and prediction comes from the same mind that defined the model answers.

02

JC economics tuition specialists since 2007

We have taught A Level Economics, and only Economics, since 2007. No Physics, no Chemistry. In 2018 we expanded into General Paper, and we offer Maths through Genius Plus Academy, but Economics remains our core. Think cardiologists, not a general clinic.

03

Whole cohort results, not cherry picked stars

74% A-rate in 2025. 65% distinction rate across 19 years. Over 90% A-rate from top JCs. More than 95% of IB Economics students scoring a 7. And we publish honest caveats about our own data. Compare that to centres that only show their top five students.

04

Scarily accurate A Level predictions

5 of 6 essay themes identified in nearly every year. 1 out of 2 case study topics matched. Built from 20+ years of paper analysis, every top JC prelim set reviewed within one week, and SEAB phrasing trend tracking.

05

24/7 access to the actual founder

WhatsApp Mr Toh directly. He replies, even at midnight. Book free consults, Zoom or face to face, anytime. Not a chatbot, not an admin team that ghosts you after 6pm.

06

15+ in-house textbooks, updated every term

Materials written by the TYS author: printed, bound, syllabus aligned textbooks for both H2 and H1 Economics tuition. Not photocopied notes from years ago, and not available in bookstores. Browse our publications →

07

IB economics tuition

ETG also offers specialist IB Economics tuition (Year 5 to 6). More than 95% of our IB students score a 7 across cohorts. The same TYS author led system, adapted for the IB syllabus. Learn more →

The system

How the ETG economics tuition programme works together.

ETG is not a series of disconnected lessons. It is an integrated system, each element designed to reinforce the others.

01

Weekly expert-led lessons

2-hour weekly lessons taught by Mr Toh and his team of specialist economics tutors. Every session covers content, real-world application and exam technique, so you do not just know the theory, you know how to score with it.

02

Graded weekly homework

An essay or CSQ every week, paired with a worked solution and video walkthrough. Submit yours for personalised marking and detailed feedback. Practice is not optional, it is built into the system. The weekly marking cycle runs from around June or July of JC1.

03

Every lesson recorded

Every lesson is recorded and uploaded to the LMS after class. Miss a week, rewatch a tricky topic, binge before block tests. You can replay any lesson conducted while you are enrolled, whether you attended it or missed it. Across the full two-year A Level course the library builds to 160+ recordings.

04

Consults & support

Consultations included, at no extra charge. Face to face or on Zoom with Mr Toh. Plus 24/7 WhatsApp support. A question at 11pm the night before your paper? Ask.

05

In-house A Level textbooks

A fresh textbook every term, written by the TYS author and updated to reflect the latest exam trends. 15+ publications covering every topic, essay structure and exam strategy.

06

Exam strategy & predictions

20+ years of paper analysis distilled into a prediction list that regularly covers 5 out of 6 essay themes. Plus post-exam debriefs released within 8 hours of the paper.

07

Structured revision roadmap

A week by week game plan from June through the A Levels. No guessing what to revise next, the roadmap tells you what to focus on, when, and how to practise it.

08

Specialist tutor team

Degrees from Cambridge, Carnegie Mellon, NUS and SMU. Lee Kong Chian Scholars and Dean's Listers. Not undergraduates, career educators.

Every element works together. The textbooks are written by the same person who wrote the TYS answers. The homework mirrors real exam demands. The predictions are built from 20+ years of analysis. That is why students call this the most complete economics tuition programme in Singapore.

Meet Mr Eugene Toh

Singapore's specialist A Level economics tutor, and the person who wrote the books.

Mr Eugene Toh, founder of ETG Economics
Founder & lead tutor since 2007

Eugene started tutoring as an NUS Economics undergraduate in 2007. What began as word of mouth sessions became ETG, Singapore's specialist A Level Economics tuition programme, now in its 19th year.

He holds a B.A. in Economics from NUS and an M.Sc. in Applied Economics from SMU. He authored the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys (SAP) and the 50 Model Essays series (SAP), all commercially available at Popular bookstores. After 19 cohorts he still personally teaches every week, updates every textbook, hosts free consults, and replies to student WhatsApp messages, including at midnight. He also successfully defended the ETG brand and its materials through the Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal.

He is not a figurehead. He is the JC economics tutor you will actually learn from.

We do not cherry pick our best students and pretend they are the norm. A word on how we get these numbers. In earlier years we texted every student after results to ask how they did, and published the outcomes alongside a wall of fame naming the students who scored an A. These days we keep it lighter: students simply let us know, if they are comfortable, through our student Telegram channel. So the figure reflects only the students who choose to report, and both strong and weaker students may not, so treat it as indicative rather than exact. That is also why, in recent years, we lead with what students actually say, and with the quality of the programme, rather than a percentage. We never claim guarantees, and SEAB sets the paper, not us. Read 500+ verified reviews →

Prediction accuracy

Predictions students call "scarily accurate."

5 of 6 essay themes identified in nearly every year.

Every year Mr Toh analyses 20+ years of past papers, reviews every top JC prelim set within a week of release, and tracks SEAB phrasing patterns, to produce a prediction list that in nearly every year identifies 5 of the 6 essay themes. Students often find they have already practised most of the essay themes that appear. It is not guesswork, it is pattern recognition built on nearly two decades of reverse engineering how SEAB sets questions.

After every A Level paper, ETG releases a post-exam debrief within 8 hours, mapping the questions to the predictions.

Frequently asked

About economics tuition in Singapore.

Economics at TuitionGenius (ETG) is a specialist A Level Economics tuition centre in Singapore, founded in 2007 by Mr Eugene Toh. What sets it apart: Mr Toh authored the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys (SAP) and the 50 Model Essays series (SAP), all sold at Popular, a rare credential among economics tutors in Singapore. ETG has taught only Economics since 2007, publishes verified whole cohort results, and runs an integrated system of lessons, in-house textbooks, graded homework, recorded lessons and predictions.

We collect results through voluntary self reporting. In earlier years we texted every student and even published a wall of fame naming those who scored an A; these days students simply tell us, if they are comfortable, through our student Telegram channel. So figures like the 74% A-rate in 2025, the 65% distinction rate across 19 years, the over 90% from top JCs and the 95%+ of IB students at a 7 reflect only those who reported, and both strong and weaker students may not, so we treat them as indicative. By the normal grade distribution many students score an A regardless of tuition, so we do not claim every A is ours. That is why we lead with student videos and their own messages rather than a percentage.

Fees range from $100 to $120 per lesson by level and mode. Onsite: JC2 $115, JC1 $105, IB Year 5 to 6 $120. Zoom: JC2 $110, JC1 $100, IB $120. Every student gets the full programme: 2-hour weekly lessons, 15+ in-house textbooks, recorded lessons, weekly graded homework, consultations included at no extra charge, 24/7 WhatsApp support and the prediction list. Group sign-up discount: register with a friend for $50 off per term, a group of 3 for $100 off per term, or a group of 4 for $150 off per term. Multi-subject discounts from $120 off per term also apply. Confidential financial assistance of 25% to 100% is available for the weekly programme, subject to approval.

Yes, and you can switch freely at no extra cost. Onsite at Bukit Timah, Kovan or Upper Serangoon, Pasir Ris and Upper Thomson. Zoom Live with studio grade audio and video, run since 2018. On-demand recordings uploaded to the LMS after class, to watch at your own pace.

Every lesson is recorded and uploaded to the LMS after class, so you never lose access. You can replay any lesson conducted while you are enrolled, whether you attended it or missed it, indexed to your textbook by lesson code, so you can rebuild any topic you have been taught.

Yes. ETG covers both H1 and H2 Economics tuition. H1 students attend the same lessons, which cover the full H2 syllabus, and benefit from the same materials, consults and LMS. Since H1 is a subset of H2, H1 students are thoroughly prepared, and our H1 A-rate has been above 90% in recent cohorts. That figure is self reported by students, so we treat it as indicative rather than audited.

Yes. Alongside H1 and H2 A Level Economics, the same TYS author led system teaches IB Economics (Year 5 to 6), with materials written for the syllabus. More than 95% of our IB students score a 7.

A registration pack of 15+ exclusive in-house publications, all written by Mr Eugene Toh and updated every term: the Express textbook series (a new volume each term), 50 Model Micro and Macro Essays, Concise TYS Answers, summary cheatsheets, diagrams booklets, an exercise book, revision booklets, a last minute guide, and exam prep summaries. Printed, bound, syllabus aligned, and not available in bookstores.

ETG offers a structured group programme many students find more effective than 1 to 1, because of the materials, the integrated system, and the tutor. Most private tutors do not author published materials, a graded homework programme, recorded lessons, or a prediction system built on 20+ years of data. ETG includes all of these, plus consultations included at no extra charge and 24/7 WhatsApp support with Mr Toh. For students who prefer fully personalised sessions, ETG also offers 1 to 1 through ETG Premier.

The founder of ETG and one of the most credentialed A Level economics tutors in Singapore. He holds a B.A. in Economics from NUS and an M.Sc. in Applied Economics from SMU, and authored the H1 and H2 Economics TYS answer keys (SAP) and the 50 Model Essays series (SAP), all sold at Popular. He has been featured in The Straits Times, Mothership, Yahoo and Zaobao. After 19 cohorts he still personally teaches, updates every textbook, and replies to student WhatsApp messages, including at midnight.

Yes, ETG offers a free trial lesson with no obligation. Attend a trial class, subject to availability. Book the trial, or WhatsApp the admin team first if you have questions.

ETG has over 500 verified Google reviews, a 74% A-rate in 2025, and has served over 4,000 students across 19 cohorts since 2007, one of the longest running and most reviewed specialist economics tuition centres in Singapore. Rather than relying on marketing claims, we encourage you to verify independently: check the TYS answer keys at Popular, read the reviews, and attend a free trial. Best suited to JC students taking H1 or H2 Economics, and to IB students taking Economics.
